Many times when you call Sullivan Banjo with requests or questions the voice you hear answering the phone is that of our very own Murrell Thixton.   Murrell is the banjo player for  the group Storefront Congregation, a four piece band from Louisville, Ky  that performs bluegrass and acoustic music.  This weekend they will join Kyle Ramey, Kati Penn and Newtown, and 9 time IBMA fiddler of the year Michael Cleveland in a concert to benefit 3 local charities The Salvation Army, The Center for Women and Families, andThe Home of the Innocents.   If you’d like details on how you can attend you can find more information about the concert here.

Join other BHO members for a real-world gathering at the Sullivan Banjos/FQMS showroom in Louisville, Kentucky!

Eric Schlange, owner of the Banjo Hangout, is collaborating with the folks at Sullivan Banjos to do a meetup gathering in Louisville on Friday night, October 14th. Eric will be there (he’s in town working with Sullivan on a web project) and he would love to meet as many BHO folks in person as possible!

Of course, Eric’s not the main attraction… the Sullivan boys will have some beautiful banjos on hand to be played, including the whole Sullivan line and Myrtle, the pre-war Gibson style 3 that inspired their new Vintage 35 line. We’ll also have refreshments, hangout time with other BHO folks, impromptu jams, and who knows what else!

Sullivan Banjo has sent one of the last remaining prototypes of the Vintage 35 to First Quality Music to be sold off.   This banjo has an old growth wood rim and the new Vintage 35 tone ring.  The neck and resonator are mahogany, and the resonator has concentric rings.   It has the standard Vintage 35 inlay pattern in a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.   Check with First Quality Music for details on the sale price.

We just finished up a couple of new banjos that are off to our Dealer First Quality Music in Louisville, Ky. They’ll be getting a couple of mahogany beauties, a Vintage 35 and our Classic Bardstown.  If you live in the Louisville area be sure to stop by and see them and get your hands on one of these fine Sullivan Banjos.

We just completed a new Greenbriar for our dealer First Quality Music in Louisville, Ky.  Their customer Shawn Murphy from St. Augustine, Florida, an owner of a Sullivan Vintage 35, wanted to add a Classic to his collection.  After some discussions with Sullivan Banjo’s Tony Wray they decided to add a few “extra” touches to make this banjo a special tribute to Shawn’s Dad.  A little Granada style engraving, gold plating, engraved truss rod cover and a very special name block in Shawn’s Dad’s hand writing made this a true “Classic” for Shawn.  We appreciate you choosing Sullivan Shawn and we wish you many years of enjoyment.
