Eric Schlange to visit Sullivan Banjo in October

We’re going to have meet and great, pick n’ socialize at Sullivan Banjos. Eric will be in town helping out with Sullivan Banjo’s website and he’d like to say howdy face to face with some of the BHO members. Come on out for the fun, pick a banjo or two and say hi to Eric Schlange.

Join other BHO members for a real-world gathering at the Sullivan Banjos/FQMS showroom in Louisville, Kentucky!

Eric Schlange, owner of the Banjo Hangout, is collaborating with the folks at Sullivan Banjos to do a meetup gathering in Louisville on Friday night, October 14th. Eric will be there (he’s in town working with Sullivan on a web project) and he would love to meet as many BHO folks in person as possible!

Of course, Eric’s not the main attraction… the Sullivan boys will have some beautiful banjos on hand to be played, including the whole Sullivan line and Myrtle, the pre-war Gibson style 3 that inspired their new Vintage 35 line. We’ll also have refreshments, hangout time with other BHO folks, impromptu jams, and who knows what else!

Our good friends Rob Damron and Dave McCoy of the 4 O’Clock Rock Guitar Shop in Ashland, KY are taking delivery of their very first Vintage 35 Maple Banjo. It’s on it’s way to their fine shop in Ashland, KY. If you live in or around the Ashland area make sure and go by and test drive the V35. You’ll be glad you did.

Another Sullivan Vintage 35 banjo in Mahogany is heading out to one of our wonderful Dealers in Marietta, GA, Banjo.com. But something is a little different….. It’s a lefty. This one is really special to us here at the Sullivan Factory because it’s our very first Lefty in the Vintage 35 Series. We have done many Lefty’s over the years but this is # 1 for our new Vintage 35 Series line of banjos. Mark Bramlett and John Drummond at Banjo.com have this one picked out for one of their very special customers. Steve Dilling and III Tyme out take 2

Sullivan Banjo sponsored artist Steve Dilling with IIIrd Tyme Out stopped by the shop today. Steve, Russell and the band were on their way to the Shepherdsville Kentucky Music Barn for a performance that evening. Steve is currently playing one of the new Sullivan Vintage 35 Banjos in maple. We had a great visit with the band and even got our very own Tony Wray of Sullivan Banjo Co. to sit down and pick a tune or two with them. III Tyme Out is one of the elite groups in bluegrass, be sure to check out their website to get more information on the group and to see if they will be in an area new you. Our good friend Steve Coffman from Columbus, IN stopped in First Quality Music in Louisville, KY to pickup his new Sullivan Vintage 35 Banjo. Steve liked the sound and craftmanship so much he just had to have it. Steve was down last week with his good friend Dennis Marcum, after compairing the Vintage 35 Mahogany to our original prewar flathead Steve was convinced the sound of the V35 was so close they could hardly tell the difference. Steve is an avid banjo player and collector and we wish him many great years with his new V35.

Proud parents Melissa and John Willis have a big J.D. Crowe fan on their hands…. Their son Stewart. Early on when Stewart was six years old he knew he wanted to learn to play banjo. At the age of nine he got his wish an began taking lessons with Larry Beasley, the legandary banjo teacher from Russell Springs, KY … Stewart has been playing banjo for alomst a year now and he is well on his way to becoming a really great player. Stewart was in the shop today getting some 5th string spikes installed in his banjo and while he was waiting I asked him to play us a tune on one of the new Sullivan Banjos, here he is playing part of that famous old song… Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

Good friends.. HWY 411 Band visit Sullivan Banjo Co.

Our very good friends Wayne and Betty Howell from Ranger, GA stopped in today here at Sullivan Banjo Co. and brought with them some friends and family. Wayne and crew are also known all around Georgia as the HWY 411 Band. Pictured from left to right, Patricia Brock (sings), Wayne Howell (plays guitar and sings), Jeff Sullivan of Sullivan Banjo Co., Betty Howell (upright bass), Lindsay Johnson (family member, dosen’t play but biggest fan & expected mother to be..), Marica Johnson (sings). It was sure great to finally met them and get some time to visit. Other band members that did not get to make the trip, Bobby Childers (banjo), Gary Quarles (mandolin), Chuck Brock (guitar and sings), Cary Brock (fiddle). Vintage-35 Production Photos

Our new production processes are in place and the first full batch of Vintage-35 Banjos will be completely finished this month! Jeff took a few shots of the parts that we thought were quite artistic and wanted to share. This particular peghead features Brazilian Rosewood, and you can see the new laser engraving on our Sullivan Historic rim in the background.
